Welcome to the Ignite information page!
Ignite is the top level eNeRGy group for young people in school years 9 to 13. Ignite normally meet on a Sunday night, down at the chapel at 8pm, however this year we are hoping to venture out to a few other youth events in the local areas, including The Mix in Bristol!
So why do we only meet on a Sunday night? With the young people in this age group we recognise that they are in their most important years of education, so we don't want to detract from the important studying that they will need to doing.
At Ignite we encourage our young people to come along to the morning services, as we believe they are old enough to learn from the adult teaching that is given. The Sunday evening sessions are a bit more chilled, with some great teachings on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from Old Testament prophets to relationships and social behaviors.
In addition to the weekly sessions, we also take a group of young people, from both Voltage and Ignite to Soul Survivor. This is often a fantastic opportunity for the young people to meet others the same age as them, building relationships with them that often last for a long time after the week is over. As leaders we recognise the importance of having friendships with other Christian teens, that’s why we aim to get to some of the other local youth events as mentioned above.
We also try to get away for a weekend of bible studies and development, with an added extra of just having time to chill with each other. We usually go to St. Georges house in North Devon, a great Christian centre with the opportunity to try some outdoor activities, like surfing or kayaking.
As mentors to these young people we are passionate about developing their knowledge and understanding of the bible, and really encourage them to develop their own personal relationship with God. We also want to encourage the parents and adults to get involved with the young people on their walk of faith, especially during the week when we don't see them!
